For much of his early life, Jason had no stable place to call home. He moved in and out of hostels with his mum and sister. Struggling with her own mental health, Jason’s mum neglected her children.
Jason never felt safe. He never felt secure. By the time he was 19 he was homeless. Convinced he had no hope and no future, Jason turned to alcohol to try and relieve his distress.
Today, life looks very different. Since arriving at a local YMCA in Wales, Jason has taken advantage of every opportunity to learn new skills and is now flourishing. He’s taken part in sessions to help him manage his money and pay his bills. He has learnt how to write his CV, and plan for his future. Now Jason has high hopes to build a career in the RAF.
“YMCA has provided me with lots of opportunities. I will leave having an idea of where I might see myself in the future and how to get there.”
As a RoomSponsor you help YMCA provide more than 7,000 spaces for young people across England and Wales, 370 of which are in Wales.
